Falls screening / Assessment tools

Screening and assessment tools can assist to determine the level of falls risk of a patient/resident. A range of tools are available, but the more commonly utilised tools are:

• BERG Balance Scale – Modified (including instructions)

• Tinetti Mobility Tool

• Falls Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT)

• Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale ( RUDAS)

• Care Home Falls Screen (CaHFRiS)
